What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a clinically-led health profession focused on restoring movement, reducing pain, and helping you get back to the things you value — whether that’s walking without discomfort, returning to sport, or simply sleeping through the night.

At specialist level, physiotherapy goes well beyond exercise prescription. A thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis, access to diagnostic imaging, hands-on treatment, injection therapy, and shockwave technology can all be part of a single, coordinated plan. The goal is always to treat the root cause of your problem — not just manage the symptoms.

Bradley works with patients presenting with a wide range of conditions — from acute sports injuries and post-operative spines to chronic pain, inflammatory conditions, and complex nerve pain. Many of his patients have seen other practitioners before and are looking for a more specialist assessment and a clearer plan.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What should I expect on my first physiotherapy session?

Your first appointment begins with a detailed conversation about your problem, your history, and what you’re hoping to achieve. This is followed by a thorough physical examination tailored to your presentation. Bradley will then explain what he thinks is going on, discuss your options honestly, and agree a treatment plan with you. Where appropriate, he can request diagnostic imaging at the same appointment.

What do I wear?

Wear something comfortable and easy to move in. For lower limb and spinal assessments, shorts are ideal. For shoulder or upper limb problems, a vest top or loose-fitting shirt works well.

Do you need to know my medications?

Yes — please bring a list of your current medications including dose and frequency. This is particularly important if you’re being considered for injection therapy or shockwave treatment, as certain medications can affect what’s appropriate for you.

Do I need a referral?

Bradley sees patients both by direct access and by consultant referral. No referral is required to book — you can contact The Body Factory in Harrow directly to arrange an appointment. If you’ve been referred by a consultant/doctor, bring any letters or investigation results as these help Bradley get up to speed quickly

How is a specialist MSK physiotherapist different from a standard physiotherapist?

Specialist MSK physiotherapists work at an advanced clinical level — typically with postgraduate training, a caseload focused on complex presentations, and access to treatments and investigations beyond the scope of standard community physiotherapy. Bradley holds an MSc, has completed further MSc-level modules at UCL and Teesside University, and can request imaging, perform injection therapy, and manage conditions that have not responded to first-line treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies considerably depending on the condition and how long it has been present. Bradley will give you a realistic indication at your first appointment. The aim is always to get you to where you need to be as efficiently as possible — not to keep you coming back longer than necessary.
